Project: Chestnut Street Pumping & Filtration Plant Feasibility
Study
Client: City of Orange Township
![]() |
In order to bring its largest single water treatment and pumping facility
into compliance with current Federal and State regulations and to ensure
a safe and dependable water supply capable of meeting anticipated future
demands, the City of Orange Township retained GSE to undertake a study
to determine the most cost effective approach in replacing the existing
facility with one that meets all current and pending water quality standards
and will be sized to meet anticipated future City water demands to meet
future re-development plans. The subject study included detailed facility
site inspections and testing, detailed water demand analysis required
for firm capacity determinations, and conceptual design and layout of
new facility options to a level of detail necessary to generate construction
budget estimates. GSE’s recommended option addressed the many challenges
associated with the project including significant site constraints, staging
requirements to ensure no interruption of service while the new facility
was being constructed, and equipment and equipment sizing selections that
will allow for facility expansion to effectively address pending water
quality issues without materially impacting the operation of the new facility.
The new facility is presently in the final design stages and is scheduled
to begin construction in 2007.
